Kingston and Transcend – Market Leaders in Q2

Worldwide USB flash drive shipments increased by 9%, to 39.96 million, over the first quarter of 2008, it has been reported. Kingston Technology was the market leader with a 15.49% market share, whilst Transcend was second with a 13.48% share.

It is expected that the market will continue to grow – reaching 165.74 million pieces by the end of 08.

The leading capacity was 2GB – commanding 37% of the market. However products offering capacities in excess of 4GB increased their share of the market and represented 46% of sales in the second quarter.
