Simms operates a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. Whilst we are currently not legally required to provide a Modern Slavery Statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (“the Act”), we wish to demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. This statement aims to provide our employees, partners, suppliers, and customers with information to make informed decisions about the products and services that they buy and the companies that they support and work with.

Modern slavery takes various forms such as servitude and forced labour, human trafficking and child labour, all of which have in common the exploitation or intended exploitation of the victim and deprivation of the victim’s freedom. This statement provides some information about our organisation and supply chains, together with the steps we have taken in the financial year ending 31 December 2019 to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chains.

Our organisation

We are a specialist memory distributor in the IT sector. We have c30 employees and operate in the UK. Our Vision “Enabling the world to manage data through world-class memory and storage solutions” is our starting point and north star.

We believe our vision gives our employees, partners, suppliers, and customers an emotional and intellectual connection with Simms beyond its operational characteristics. Further it acts as a reference point to check every decision we make before we make it.

Our vision is part of the first of 10 areas of the business growth framework which Simms is fully committed to. We see the framework as a natural evolution of both our teamwork and holistic approach to business. This framework coupled with our 7 guiding principles is the foundation of Simms strategic plan.

Our supply chain

Our supply chains consist of product and service suppliers who work with us to ensure we deliver our vision.
We work with a compliance consultant to identify risks associated with modern slavery within our supply chain which includes asking suppliers to provide evidence of compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

We have policies and procedures in place which are designed to minimise the risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains. These include our Simms International plc Antislavery and Human Trafficking Policy and our Simms International plc Whistleblowing Policy. These policies highlight the protection of whistle-blowers and the responsibility of every employee to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicions or concerns that they have that any form of modern slavery may be taking
place in any part of our business or supply chains. We will, during this financial year, raise awareness within our business regarding the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking.

This statement has been approved by the Executive Leadership Team and relates to the financial
year ending December 2019.
